1593 The ship of Governor Gomez Perez Dasmariñas is becalmed off Sulphur Point, Batangas. The Chinese rower's under their leader, P'an Ho-wu, mutiny and massacre the sleeping Spaniards, including the Governor. 1762 The officials and residents of Manila are compelled to take the oath of allegiance to King George III, of England. 1845 Sidewalks are ordered laid in Manila by Governor-General Narciso Claveria. 1896 The Academia Militar is founded in Malolos, Bulacan. 1902 Public Act No. 488 is approved appropriating P65,964.00 for the expenditures of civil governments of Mindoro, Batangas and Marinduque. 1944 Units of the American and Japanese naval forces flight in the Battle of Surigao Strait.
